We arrived a couple days early and camped at a spot just a
mile or so from Art and Suzi's.
B came by to bring us firewood and chairs 'n' stuff.
Campin' Greg.
Beaver pond view during a short (3 hour) hike.
Then it was time for the surprise party. Sue
did a great job getting everyone together and keeping it from
Art! Thanks Suzi for all your hard work and making this family
reunion possible!
See pics from the party below...
An unsuspecting Art walked in the door...
to find his whole family "all in one room"...
Greg and Brian hadn't seen some of their cousins in over 10
years

Catching up with bro and fam.

the youngest party guest...
Pete, Peggy, B, Anna and Katie.
And then there
was the after party...half the group decided to whoop it up
Montana style...with not just any karaoke...but AWESOME karaoke!
The birthday boy hung in there for the duration...there was
lots of dancing, playing pool...and, of course singing!...
I'm not sure, but I think Art's dancing...no telling what
Brian's doing...
Sing it, Pete! (this boy could really sing!)
The Borchard boys signin' a little tune by Leonard Skinnard
B...gettin' down tonight.
shakin' that booty...
These guys could have partied longer than I could...
The girls belt out a tune for Art.
Pool sharks...taught by the master himself...uncle
Guy.
After much revelry, we closed the place down
(and were summarily kicked out) around 2 am.
The next day,
Ranger Brian took the cousins on a (I swear, we're almost
there) "30 minutes up, 30 minutes back" hike (which turned
out to be a 3 hour tour...a three hour tour...) but the view
of the waterfall from the top made it all worthwhile.
At the end, the whole group got together for this (extended)
family portrait.
Greg and I stayed on for a few more days so the boys could
hang out with dad a while.
We took the Bronco up Sweeny Creek Road for a picnic...
Here's a pic of Art n Suzi's house from up on the mountain.
(What...you can't see it?)
We captured the opposite view of the mountain from Art n Suzi's
backyard.
A good time was
had by all...Greg and Brian were especially stoked to see
everyone again. If you've got time on your hands, be sure
to check out pics from other adventures of Greg, Brian and
Nicole on this site. And, if you're ever in San Clemente,
be sure to look us up!
